EURO 2020 Quarter-final fixtures set as England break 56-year-old jinx

The brackets for the 2020 EURO have been filled after dramatic and pulsating games across the centers.

Shocking results, great goals, fight-backs and penalties were witnessed as teams fought for their spaces in the last eight.

Out of the eight games played in the last 16, four of the ties needed extra 30 minute after the regular 90 minutes duration before a winner could emerge.

Denmark put four past Wales in the first round of 16 game. The Danes were on the day by far the better side as they became the first team to book last 8 spot.

Cristiano Ronaldo’s effort not enough as Belgium pipped the defending champions 1-0 at the Estadio de La Cartuja.

While Belgium secured the win against Portugal they may be without their star players Kevin De Bruyne and Eden Hazard for the quarter-final.

The tie between Croatia and Spain produced eight goals and was settled at extra time.

The Croats who were without their star man, Ivan Perisic, gave their all in an attempt to book a place in the last eight.

But it was the Spanish team who won 5-3 in the eight-goal thriller.

The tournament favourites France were also shocked by an underdogs on Monday.

With just 10 minutes to go, the Bleus were leading 3-1 but the two goal cushion vanished at the end of the regular time.

Nothing to separate both teams after 30 minutes of extra time and the clash was decided through a penalty shootout where the Swiss won 5-4.

It was Kylian Mbappe who had a very poor tournament that missed the deciding penalty.

With Portugal and France knocked out, Germany now the only team left from Group H, the Group of death.

They tackle their long time rivals England at the Wembley Stadium. It was a balance first 45 minutes and could go any way.

But Raheem Sterling and Harry Kane scored the goals to hand England a 2-0 win and their first ever win against Germany in a competitive game since 1966.

Artem Dovbyk scored in the last minutes of the extra-time to hand Ukraine a 2-1 win against 10-man Sweden on Tuesday.

The clash between Ukraine and Sweden completed the round of 16 games.

Switzerland and Spain will kick start the quarter-final games at the Saint Petersburg Stadium on Friday by 5 pm.

Italy and Belgium will clash at Fussball Arena Munich on the same day but at 8 pm.

On Saturday, Czech Republic will tackle Denmark at Baku Olimpiya Stadionu by 5 pm.

While England and Ukraine will complete the quarter-final fixtures with their game at Stadio Olimpico, Rome.
