City v Liverpool and other top games to look out for this weekend

It was an all round football action in the midweek with top European clubs going head to head in the UEFA Champions and Europa Leagues.

The clubs who are no back at their respective leagues will continue action this weekend starting from Saturday until Sunday.

Here, NetBet Nigeria top five picks from the many available fixtures this weekend.

1. Everton v Manchester United

This is one fixture the Premier League fans and Red Devil faithful would be watching closely.

For Premier League fans they would want to see what happens to Carlo Ancelotti side who have now lost back-to-back games after their impressive start to the season.

Everton who won eight straight games across all competitions, but now winless in their last three, after a point in the Merseyside Derby before back-to-back defeats away to Southampton and Newcastle United respectively would be out for a win.

On the hand, Manchester United fans would be hoping for a favourable result in the game that could seal the fate of their manager Ole Gunner Solskjaer.

According to multiple reports another defeat which would mean three-straight defeats for Manchester United could spell the end of the Norwegian.

Both clubs would welcome back their suspended players; Everton Lucas Digne and Manchester United Anthony Martial.

The match at the Goodison Park would be played by 1:30pm on Saturday.

2. Borussia Dortmund v Bayern Munich

Der Klassiker (German Clasico) has and would always be a fixture to look out for and this weekend it would be much more interesting because the stakes are high.

The clash wouldn’t be the usual as both clubs currently tied atop the Bundesliga table on point would be looking for a breakaway.

Dortmund would be without Emre Can (coronavirus), Dan-Axel Zagadou (knee) and Marcel Schmelzer (knee) but are currently working on having Matt Hummels for the clash.

As for Bayern Munich they would be without the services of Alphonso Davies likely out until December after tearing an ankle ligament, while Leon Goretzka (calf) and Niklas Sule (coronavirus).

Regardless of the absentees, this clash would offer a lot as both teams would give it their all.

The game would be played at the Signal Iduna Park by 6:30pm.

3. Manchester City v Liverpool

When two elephants fight, the ground (Etihad Stadium) will suffer. It is the clash of the two Premier League heavy weights and title favourites.

It is just week 8 and we would be served hot with good and tactical football when both teams play this Sunday.

Fresh from their impressive games in the Champions League where both clubs are one of the few clubs with 100% winning records and straight into battle for the Premier League title.

This clash would be much more than battle of the two top clubs in the Premier League as it could be a potential league decider.

Liverpool currently sit atop the Premier League log with 16 points from 7 games while Manchester City occupy the 10th position with 11 points from 6 games.

If we go by Arsenal legend, Ian Wright, Liverpool would win this despite the absence of their star defender Virgil van Dijk.

‘I expect them [Liverpool] to beat them [City] because I feel like they’ve got themselves and their minds back in what they need to do.’

The match would be played at the Etihad Stadium on Sunday by 5:30 pm.

4. Real Madrid vs Valencia

Second place Real Madrid will be looking for another win in the La Liga to make it three in a row and are primed for that this weekend after their hard-fought 3-2 win against Inter Milan.

A test against Valencia might be a tough fixture for Los Blancos but the defending champions who are just one point behind leaders Real Sociedad should be motivated enough to win this one too.

The return of injured Eden Hazard could be a big boost for Zinedine Zidane and Madrid as they chase a back-to-back La Liga title.

The clash would be played at the Estadio Mestalla on Sunday by 9 pm.

5. Lazio v Juventus

When you have the great Cristiano Ronaldo in your team you can be half certain of a victory. After back-to-back wins in the Serie A and Champions League, Juventus should be very prepared for this clash.

With Cristiano Ronaldo going against Ciro Immobile who beat him to the top scorer award last season you can expect the Portuguese super star to come to the party.

Since his return Juventus have won all their games and he would want it to continue that way as he and Pirlo managed side fight for another Serie A title.

The match would be played on Sunday at the Stadio Olimpico by 1:30 pm.
