Action on Matchday Five of the German Bundesliga season is set to take place following the midweek European adventures of several teams, including Bayern Munich, Wolfsburg, Borussia Dortmund, Union Berlin and Bayer Leverkusen.

- Hertha Berlin vs Greuther Furth: Newly-promoted Greuther Furth have started the season poorly and find themselves once again at the bottom of the Bundesliga standings with only one point this season. They have found goals hard to come by and will hope for a good performance against 16th place Hertha Berlin, who have only three points this season. Hertha are favourites to win the match on home soil, and they would be looking to win a second consecutive league match.

- Arminia Bielefeld vs Hoffenheim: Hoffenheim will take on Arminia Bielefeld with the hopes of bouncing back from their defeat last week. Hoffenheim currently occupy seventh place on the log and would be looking to make the most of their “favourite” tag and win the match.

- Augsburg vs Borussia Monchengladbach: Struggling Augsburg will welcome Borussia Monchengladbach for their Bundesliga matchday five encounter. Monchengladbach won their first match of the season last weekend following a tough start to the season and now sit in 11th place on the log. Augsburg are second-bottom and winless in the league this season.

- Bayern Munich vs Bochum: After a flawless performance against FC Barcelona in the Champions League, Bayern Munich return to action against a Bochum side that has won only one of its matches this season. The Bavarian giants have hit form very early in the season and are clear favourites to pick up maximum points from the match.

- Mainz vs Freiburg: Fourth takes on fifth when Mainz welcomes Freiburg for their matchday five encounter. The hosts have won three and lost just one of their opening four matches, and Freiburg are undefeated in the league so far this season. The home team are favourites to emerge victorious in the match.

- FC Koln vs RB Leipzig: RB Leipzig have had a tough start to the season under American manager Jesse Marsch, and would be looking to kickstart their season after an encouraging performance against Manchester City in Europe during the week. Their opponents are currently seventh in the league and have lost just once this season. Leipzig remain firm favourites to win the match.

- Stuttgart vs Bayer Leverkusen: Bayer Leverkusen will travel to face Stuttgart in a bid to bounce back from their defeat to Borussia Dortmund last week. Both sides have not been at their best this season in the Bundesliga, with Stuttgart in 10th place and Leverkusen in 6th.

- Borussia Dortmund vs Union Berlin: Union Berlin face a tough task when they go up against Erling Haaland and Borussia Dortmund on matchday five of the Bundesliga. The capital club have punched well above their weight and sit in 8th place on the standings, but a stern test awaits them at the Signal Iduna Park.
